START WITH YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

A Gateway fence plan starts with the exact property.

Gateway includes properties served by a community development district as well as individual neighborhood associations. The Gateway Services CDD’s official guidance separates its infrastructure responsibilities from local-government land-use and zoning decisions. For a fence project, it helps to identify the property, the neighborhood and the organizations involved before selecting a design.

Tell Florida Fence Pros whether you need a new enclosure, a damaged section replaced or a gate repaired. At the onsite estimate, we can walk the proposed fence line, review access and put the requested work into a written scope.

Neighborhood documents

Obtain the current requirements for your own association and address. Ask about review procedures, fence location, appearance and any documents needed with the proposal.

Survey & easements

Bring your survey and mark known drainage, utility or maintenance areas. Show us any lake edge, common space or service route near the proposed work.

Permit jurisdiction

Confirm which local government handles the property. Use the address and parcel information when checking requirements rather than relying only on a Fort Myers mailing address.

Plan gates around the way you use the yard.

Before choosing a gate location, walk the route from the driveway to the area that needs access. Lawn equipment, pool service and deliveries may need a wider or differently placed opening than routine foot traffic.

  • Clear opening: Discuss the usable space needed between the posts and any equipment that must pass through.
  • Swing and approach: Point out slopes, paving, landscaping and nearby doors that could interfere with the gate.
  • Fence connections: Identify existing sections, house-side endpoints and shared boundaries so the estimate defines the work clearly.

A nearby fence can help describe the look you want, but the proposed layout still needs review for your own lot. We can discuss aluminum fencing and other material options once the property’s requirements and project goals are clear.

Repair planning for existing fences and entrances.

For a repair, photograph the full fence run as well as the damage. Leaning posts, loose connections and a gate that no longer latches can affect the scope beyond the visibly broken section. If you know the existing material or manufacturer, have that information ready.

For an association entrance or shared fence, identify the authorized project contact and describe how residents, service vehicles and maintenance crews use the area. Our gate and operator services and fence repair services can be reviewed against that specific request.

Useful official resources

The Gateway Services CDD website provides district information. For permit resources, consult Lee County’s Application & Information Center or the City of Fort Myers building department, as applicable to the property. Obtain current neighborhood requirements directly from your association.

Bring these to your Gateway estimate.

  • Address, neighborhood name and current survey.
  • Association documents and any review correspondence.
  • Photos, preferred fence layout and gate-opening needs.
  • Known access limits, easements and items that must stay in place.

Gateway fence and gate questions.

Does Gateway have one fence approval process for every property?

Start with your own neighborhood association and property documents. District infrastructure questions, association review and local-government permitting can involve different contacts. Confirm which steps apply to the proposed work.

Can my fence follow the edge of a lake or landscaped area?

Do not use a visible landscape or water edge as the property boundary. Bring the survey and identify easements and maintenance access before deciding where the fence should go.

Can you replace only the damaged section?

We can assess that option onsite. Post condition, material compatibility, adjacent sections and gate operation help determine whether a limited repair is practical.

What determines the estimate?

The measured fence layout, material, gates, removal and site conditions determine the price. We prepare the scope for the actual property after reviewing the work.
